  • 1.  Cat meowing at night

So my 12 year old cat has taken to meowing (very loudly) throughout the night. He has access to food, water & a clean litter box.  I have taken him to our Vet for a complete work up & everything came back as normal.  I call him into bed with me & he’ll come up & cuddle for a bit but then back down to resume meowing.  Any ideas or suggestions?

AS Jackson Galaxy says: Play, Eat, Sleep mimics their wild instincts.   He might be bored.  Try playing extra before dinner and bed.

Did the vet test his thyroid? Sometimes a thyroid out of whack causes a cat to meow loudly.

There is a great article in Maddie's Resource Library called Continous Meowing or Vocalization that's worth a read!

Years ago my siamese did the same thing. Our vet had just been to a seminar on pet dementia and suggested the following: melatonin at night, pheromone diffuser, and keeping him in a small room at night... it took about 6 weeks before we saw a noticeable change in his behavior at night. It worked.

Talk with your vet about feline dementia.
