Hello everyone, I am Aleta Mosebach and I am the supervisor of our local municipal shelter in Brevard County, Florida. Our shelter was taken over by our local sheriff's office in October of 2014 with an unhealthy shelter bursting at the seams and a ridiculously high euthanasia rate. The live release rate was at about 52% and in the more than 3 1/2 years that the sheriff's office has taken over we have gone to No Kill status with an average LRR of about 95%. I am a teacher by trade, (for 23 years), but made the move to the shelter about 8 months after the sheriff's office took over. I have learned a great deal in the last 3 months and even took the Animal Shelter Management course through the Univeristy of the Pacific on a scholarship through Maddie's. I am absolutely loving my new position and working with animals and the animal welfare community. I look forward to being a part of the Maddie's forum and learning new things from other people in the industry.
