We have a great group of trappers in New Orleans and in May trapped and fixed 285 cats via a private veterinarian.   The Louisiana SPCA paid for spay neuter of 40 of them and we paid for the rest out of pocket and throught donations and fundraisers.  We are not a non profit and need funds to continue this work.  Up until March 15 , 2020 the Louisiana SPCA covered the spay neuter costs but then shut down all spay neuter until a few weeks ago with limited appointments.  We need help with funding.  We trap a lot of cats and are all volunteers.  We pay for our gas, food, traps, use our cars and our time.  Kitten season is exploding here.  We foster as well.  Are there any resources for groups like ours?

There is a #spaytogether funding initiative that was accepting apps through 6/8 so recipients likely not known yet. Louisiana is one of the focus states. Follow the hashtag and maybe see if any groups local to you get funding that you could possibly piggyback into?

Maybe also explore fiscal sponsorship through a registered non-profit? I haven't seen any funders that will donate to informal groups. Others in the forum might have some ideas. Good luck & thanks for helping the kitties!
