Show me the Money $$$!!!

Hi everyone. I'm looking for some good examples of how reducing intake -- particularly through return-to-field and managed intake and safety net programs -- has had a positive effect on your budget. For instance, do you know what it costs you to (say) spay/neuter-vaccinate and return cats as opposed to taking them in, housing them, and trying to adopt them out. Or -- what about providing basic vet care or behavior help for owner-surrendered dogs instead of taking them in?

While I think many of us have seen the incredible successes of intake prevention programs, I'd love to get more info on the economics of these programs, particularly for presenting to those who may be skeptical about these new ideas, or people in positions of power who may be more interested in economics than life-saving.

Of course, if you have any data to help describe your success story, that would be extra terrific!
