I just adopted my beautiful best friend yesterday. Her name is Rosie and she’s such a great cat already! I’m trying to get her to kind of come to me if I call her up on the bed or anything but she doesn’t seem to want to listen? I’ve had a cat before and she would listen and come to me whenever I called her. Do you think this will change overtime? I know she needs time to adjust and get used to me. I’m just anxious to start loving her!

Hi!  Give your Rosie some time to get used to her new space & the regular routine...  I have fostered for years & we adopted our Zoe when she could not adjust to the shelter cages (she bit every staff member except the one who fed her)...  In any case, it took Zoe 2 weeks before she would come out from under the bed during the day (she 'roamed' at night) & 3 months before she would let me touch her.  It has been 6 years now & she LOVES to sleep ON me - she is a little thing & likes to sleep on my chest (LOL)!  It has truly been a transformation, but it took a while & she had to be really, really comfortable with the routine & learn to trust.  Your Rosie is going to do fine, she will settle in & you will be loving on each other soon - let her come to you, though (it will help her trust in you)!  I know it is hard being patient, but it will be worth it!  Our Zoe was 6 years old when she came to us, damaged & scared & now, even though she is an old girl, she is loving & loves her home & her 'spots' around our house - including my lap & my chest - Your Rosie will find her places too, in time...

Thank you so much! She has warmed up so much more just in that little time from posting my concern! She’s sleeping on the bed with me as we speak. 😺

Congratulations on finding your new best friend! I think over time, your cat will likely start coming to you when called, especially if you associate yourself with a reward (treats or play with a toy). Have you ever heard of clicker-training? This is common when working with dogs, but cats are equally as capable to respond to it. You can work a whole bunch of fun and useful behaviors through clicker-training. There are a bunch of articles on the net, but here's one from one of the best-
