  • 1.  transport a cat from TX to AZ

    Posted 02-25-2019 07:43 AM

We adopted out a cat from our shelter in AZ in late 2016 and through an unfortunate set of circumstances, the cat was moved to FL the following year and has now been surrendered in Austin, TX. We need to get the kitty back to us. We have never needed a transport between states before and need reliable help soon.

    use Doobert.com!

Hopefully, the shelter will allow you to place a hold on the cat, submit any required authorizations and pay any fees electronically. Then set up transport from shelter to shelter. If the shelter requires in-person authorizations, you should be able to use Doobert.com to partner with a local group, too...Austin Pets Alive! should be a great resource in that area. TX to AZ shouldn't be too difficult to get volunteers for legs. I would offer myself but I'm in GA.

GOOD LUCK and thank you for getting kitty back to safety! ^.~.^

Update on getting Cashmere from Austin to AZ. As of yesterday, kitty was pulled from Austin Animal Center by Austin Pets Alive and is now in a foster home. Two of our volunteers will leave AZ tomorrow morning and pick him up to complete his journey back to us. My sincere thanks to everyone who supported us, wished us well and gave us leads and contacts.

Cashmere is in Austin Animal Center. I had a limited conversation with them yesterday and we have a volunteer who will be in that area April 6 and could pick him up. They said they will meanwhile put him up for adoption. We desperately need someone to get him out of there. We have started the process through Doobert.com for transport but we need a local contact person in Austin.

You should be able to view the volunteer map on Doobert to find somebody close. Just put in the zip code and site will list registered users. If no results on first pass, expand search parameter miles and/or use neighboring zip codes. Will shelter let you send pull by email to hold or allow you to pay adopt fees to hold until can arrange transport? If can't get local resource through Doobert search to facilitate, definitely try Austin Pets Alive. They may be able to pull & hold or find temp foster until your person can get there in April.

Thank you for the suggestions. Nothing so far in my Doobert search. Waiting for shelter to get back to me but that is slow. In contact with Austin Pets Alive last night so hope they are able to help.
