  • 1.  Adopting cats at the local pet supply store

I am in search of an agreement template of some sort for our new partnership with our local pet supply store. We sent them two cat towers to house our cats in. They take care of the cats while they are there, and help them get adopted. The adoption process is still being processed at our building, which works for now but I feel there is a way the adoption could be processed at the store.

Also, I would like to include in the agreement something about advertising. Who does what and when.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hey! So I can't find off the top of my folder, our agreement, but our shelter does something similar. We send cats to different pet stores as well as Vet offices and they will in turn collect the fees for adoption on our behalf and send checks to us in the mail, or with the employees as they bring more cats over.

A few things to keep in mind in the agreement:

~Checking In Responsibility. Our facility transports the cats to the stores/clinics, but then has one of their employees confirm which cats are coming into their care, doing a review in case they feel any are deemed "sick" and signs off that they have received the paperwork for each animal.

~What happens if they get sick, what is protocol to how the animal gets back to your shelter?

~Who is responsible at the store/clinic each day to ensure cleaning/feedings are happening?

~For advertising, we ask that they show our logo and have copies of our adoption contracts for each kitty they take, so that the citizen receives medical summary information and understands they are adopting from us, and not the store.

~Injuries. Very important to include what happens should an animal injure a pet store associate or customer. For us, the store fills out their own injury report information, but then we would typically retrieve the animal back so as to avoid over stressing the cat and keeping a closer eye on it at our facility rather than have a store be responsible.

These are the top items for us that I know we included because of situations we've had happen in the past. Hope this helps!
