CAA operates an open-access community shelter, receiving up to 8000 unwanted animals every year. In 2011, the Baton Rouge Metro Council invited CAA to sign a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement to operate the community’s animal shelter and reauthorized our public private partnership in 2014. Since 2011, CAA has been focused on improving the lives of shelter animals, finding good homes for as many of them as possible, and upgrading shelter operations.
CAA has a committed group of active volunteers, generous donors and supportive Board of Directors and looks forward to becoming a nationally recognized animal shelter of which the Baton Rouge community can be proud.
