  • 1.  Anyone still have the ASPCA's Weekend Crate Training handout?

    Posted 01-06-2021 07:23 AM
This is a very random question, but are there any folks here who still have the ASPCA's Weekend Crate Training packet saved? It used to be part of their Virtual Pet Behaviorist program, and was one of the few short handouts I've seen that broke the steps into clear criteria without excessive dog training jargon to confuse novice handlers. However, that part of the website was taken down a few years ago and I had never saved the handout. I've used different ones since then, but still haven't found one I'm totally satisfied with. (I end up sending them to folks with notes about recommended changes to some of the steps.)

Alternately, does anyone have a favorite crate training handout? I'm on the hunt!

Sorry, I don't have the ASPCA's Weekend Crate Training packet but I love the San Francisco SPCA's Resource Library. They offer 5 resource types (behavior & training, disaster preparedness, health, pet loss support, and surrenders) and their resources are downloadable in PDF format.

Here's their Puppy Crate Training handout (you can download a printable PDF from this page): https://www.sfspca.org/resource/crate-training-puppy/. And here's their Adult Crate Training handout (with downloadable printable PDF): https://www.sfspca.org/resource/crate-training-adult-dog/

    Hope this helps!

Yes! This looks to be the handout, with another group's branding added.

Thank you to everyone who replied! These are some great resources for adopters and members of the community who need a little help.

I used HSUS' crate training resource 10+ years ago and it worked really well for me: https://www.humanesociety.org/resources/crate-training-101
