Thanks for your comments, Lisa. I'm not sure I'll ever see a day when animal welfare organizations, ranging from non-profits to government agencies to rescues, won't compete with private sector employers for candidates. Our benchmarking study offers multiple filters for organizations to use to better understand how their compensation and benefits packages compare to others – of similar org type, size, budget, etc. Having this data is the first, crucial, step to being able to create equitable and compelling hiring choices. I applaud any effort for animal organizations to survey, gather data and produce a report related to employee salaries. Unfortunately, smaller nonprofits or municipalities may not reference this as budgets are tight. As we are aware, the different market demographics and geographies across the country impact nonprofits' ability to hire. The private sector employers often hire candidates away with bigger salaries and benefits. It truly is a challenge.
