Gentle Hearts, Second Chances - Because every old soul deserves a soft place to land.

This is the name of my mission which I am starting to honor the quiet magic of senior dogs - the gentle hearts and the stories etched in every slow wag.  I believe every old soul deserves a hand to hold and a love that asks for nothing but presence.

I stand for the dogs who have given their whole lives to loyalty.  For the ones overlooked, outpaced, or left behind.  My mission is to offer comfort, dignity, and the promise of a new beginning shaped by warmth; not worry.

I am working to ensure that senior pups are not forgotten but celebrated.

It is my hope that all these dogs find homes filled with gentleness and futures where their final chapters are written in peace, softness, and belonging.

I am just starting out but hope I can get some valuable information and insight from this community.

    Thanks so much,

    Amy

    Hi CJ -

Thanks so much for the good wishes.  I was wondering if you might have some advice on how to get started.

I am thinking of reaching out to some shelters/rescues to see if they need help sharing stories of their senior dogs.

Then I can grow the mission from there.

    Take care,

    Amy

    Hey Amy!

Senior dogs hold a special place in my heart. They've spent years giving unconditional love, and it's heartbreaking how often they're overlooked simply because of their age. The reality is that many senior dogs make some of the best companions because they're often calmer, already house trained, and just looking for a comfortable place to spend their golden years. It's everything people want in a dog, if they can see past the number.

One piece of advice I'd offer as you're getting started is to focus heavily on storytelling. People connect with individual dogs far more than statistics. Share their journeys, their personalities, and the little things that make them special. Those stories are what inspire people to foster, adopt, donate, and get involved.

I work in animal welfare technology and am part of the team that built Pawdango, so I spend a lot of time talking with shelters and rescues around the country. One thing I've learned is that many people want to help senior pets; they just need to hear the stories and understand the impact they can have.

Wishing you the best as you build this. Senior dogs absolutely deserve advocates like you.

    Hi Destiny -

Thanks so much.  I am very excited but overwhelmed to get started.

I guess one step at a time.  Perhaps I can start out by reaching out to various shelters/rescues offering to share stories about their senior dogs.

    Talk soon,
    Amy
