Animal bios when there's no creative juice left in the tank

Potentially touchy subject as people can have some polarizing views on AI, but for those open to it, I wanted to share today's experience with ChatGPT:

My creativity is currently tapped out, so I thought it'd be fun to see what an AI chat bot would come up with for one of our cats. I told it "Create an adoption promotion for a quiet and affectionate black cat named Genna who loves other cats."

I was expecting something that sounded almost human, but was not quite right and would be a bit humorous because of that. Boy was I wrong. Here's what it came up with:

"Are you looking to add a new furry friend to your family? Look no further! Meet Genna, a quiet and affectionate black cat who loves nothing more than snuggling with her favorite humans.

Genna is a bit of a introvert, and she tends to be a bit shy around new people. But once she gets to know you, she will be your loyal companion for life. She is especially fond of other cats, and would do well in a home with a feline friend.

In addition to being a great companion, Genna is also easy to care for. She is litter trained, up to date on all of her vaccinations, and spayed. She is also a relatively low maintenance pet, as she is content to spend most of her time lounging around the house.

If you think Genna would be the perfect addition to your family, please contact us to learn more about the adoption process. We can't wait for Genna to find her forever home!"

I'm honestly kind of blown away! It would need some tweaks to actually match her personality as it made some assumptions that aren't quite accurate, but it's a great jumping off point and I'm definitely keeping it in my toolkit for when I need a push to get the wheels turning.

Wow! That's a great tip. I'm sure we all experience those moments when we are "tapped out" and just need somewhere to start.  Thank you!

    Jennifer,

The bot is ChatGPT through OpenAI.  It's a system that uses AI processing and a library of literally millions of points of text to generate speeches, writing, interactive chat, etc.

It's gotten a lot of press in the last few weeks and it looks like the server is a little overloaded right now, but likely we'll see some pretty big expansion of the service and others getting involved as well.  You also need to sign up with an account and have a mobile verification in order to use the service.

It's fascinating what AI is able to do at this point and it's only going to advance over the next couple of years.

I did a search for ChatGPT and quite a bit of info came up. The site I found was: https://chat.openai.com/auth/login
They are really busy today so I don't know how long it would take to finally connect

A couple of other people have already answered but I wanted to confirm that the ChatGPT I was referring to is OpenAI's bot at https://chat.openai.com/chat. It's free to use, at least for now. You just need to sign up for a free account. It looks like the demand is quite high today, but I didn't have any issues accessing it over the weekend.

I signed up for the OpenAI and now I am on Discord. Never been on this site before and have no idea what I am doing LOL

When I search for rescues or shelters, I only get marine rescue.

    Any tips?

I haven't joined the Discord, but to have the bot generate text you just have to go to https://chat.openai.com/chat and login, then at the bottom of the page there's a white bar. Type your prompt there and hit enter and you'll see your prompt pop up at the top of the page and the bot's response will appear below it.

Oh my goodness! I just did it and what it generated has me dying!

I typed 'Leo is eager to share his love with a family.'

    What I got:

It sounds like Leo is looking to start a family of his own. Starting a family can be a wonderful and fulfilling experience, but it is also a big responsibility. It is important to be prepared for the challenges and sacrifices that come along with raising a family. It may be helpful for Leo to talk to other parents and do some research on what to expect before taking this step. He may also want to consider whether he is financially and emotionally ready to start a family.

This could be a great tool to catch the attention of adopters.

    Thank you!

    That's great Kate!

The way the AI systems like this work is they take the prompt you give them and attempt to build whatever most closely matches what the AI thinks should be said based on it's library of text.

That means your starting prompt is the most important piece of getting an output that makes sense for how you want to use the system.

If you look at Sam's original prompt "Create an adoption promotion for a quiet and affectionate black cat named Genna who loves other cats."  it's great because it does a couple of things:  Helps the AI identify what type of text you want "an adoption promotion", It gives details for the AI to work with, write about a "quiet and affectionate black cat named Genna", and it is short, simple, and specific which helps the AI better interpret everything.

You may want to try doing something similar with Leo, you'll probably get a better output.  Also remember that the AI isn't just copying and pasting text, it's coming up with it's own interpretation from scratch, so if you run the same prompt multiple times, you'll get different results, some of which may be better than others.

If you like quirky results, you can also try throwing in adjectives like funny, or silly, in front of adoption promotion to get different results.  If you're still having problems, This Article on Prompts, might be helpful in deciding what to write.

My brain already feels less stressed knowing that I can throw a sentence into the AI and get something coherent to use. Thank you so much for the tips and tricks. This is new ground for me but I am so eager to use it.

Just checked out the site again and now there is a message that says: ChatGPT is at capacity right now. And a link to get notified when they are back. Looks like it has become a very popular site.
