    Thank you to all of those who were able to join my presentation, Expanding Foster Programs with Foster+ at Dallas Pets Alive!, during Camp Maddie: Foster Edition on December 7th. 

    During the session, we talked a bit about how we evaluated our current foster program, how we determined what priority needs were for our caregivers, what new things we put into place through the Foster+ program, and how we have seen an impact on our foster base.

    One of the questions that was asked in the chat that I answered that I wanted to make sure everyone saw was: "Our program has always provided supplies for our fosters, but over the years this has become extremely expensive with fosters not returning supplies. How do you handle this?" Large ticket items such as crates we track in Google Sheets and label our items with “property of Dallas Pets Alive”. We have also had a huge success with Cuddly food/supplement donations and we “spread the love” between other fosters. Sharing our Amazon wishlist has been super helpful too.

    Do you have any strategies to engage or re-inspire "inactive" fosters/fosters who have not fostered through your organization in a while?

    We will occasional send our inactive fosters a foster suggestion that is their "type" or one that we think is a good match to try and re-enage.

    One of the biggest things that helped our fosters "see the light" was personal testimonies from fosters in our internal Facebook group.
    I attached a couple screenshots, and Here is a Facebook post.
    We send it to our fosters the scholarship right away and keep reminding them to use it. Most people love it once they start, especially the messaging feature. They also have vet techs that you can message and chat with too which is a huge perk to our fosters. Personal testimonies have really been the biggest part. Plus anytime anyone has a behavior issue come up I automatically ask what their GoodPup trainer says!
