    The amount of funding needed to host a clinic depends on several factors, including the number of animals you plan to help, the services you'd like to offer, and what medical issues the vet is comfortable treating. It's best to assess these details with your vet to create an accurate budget.

    When it comes to convincing private vet practices to donate their time or services, relationships can make all the difference. If you know people who have special connections with local veterinarians, their support in making introductions or advocating for your cause can be incredibly helpful. Highlighting the impact on the community and showing appreciation for their contributions can also encourage practices to get involved. Many vets are willing to support a cause that aligns with their values and offers a meaningful way to give back.

    For Project Pet and Bay Area One Health Coalition, we have coordinated with the leadership from individual organizations that contribute to the One Health clinics on monthly calls, during which we exchange valuable data like budget necessities.  Though early in our partnership, each organization is familiar with their budget needs and can collaborate on our joint needs and collect the data necessary to go after funding opportunities to support our efforts.  

    The private vet practices have been difficult but have mostly responded to our ability to remove friction from the operational side of the clinics we ask them to participate in.  The more we are able to help provide assistance for them to show up easily and do their work the more participation we seemed to receive.  Our local shelter OAS has also been extremely helpful in securing relationships with local vets and the volunteer community that make the clinic possible.

    A great organization to connect with for this type of advocacy is HeartLA. They have experience working on similar issues and can likely provide guidance or direct you to other groups that have successfully changed landlord policies regarding animals in apartments.
