I hope your business thrive this year 2025! No matter where you are at.

Last year I posted a similar post, unfortunately I didn't use the correct lexicon. Most or all of the responses addressed the logistics. I feel that sharing my professional background will help understand what I'm asking. 20 years in Supply Chain Management, logistics, shipping, importing/exporting, ect. I was good at my job and liked it, to a point. It got boring and I had a child. Unfortunately if you are a mom with a new born one has to retire, little to no options to do it from home. My child is not school age so I can work longer hours. Anyways, I am not asking for how to get lines to move faster in a vaccine clinic. 

The focus of my question is where to find the veterinarians and what information to approach them with? Unfortunately as someone in a Supply Chain I have a lot of information. I also worked in hospitals sourcing and procuring meds (over the counter and controlled substances, I had authorization to order regulated pharmaceuticals, equipment, ect). I have called a couple of hospitals, but the only way to meet the vets is to make an appointment for one of my animals. We rescue so I'm pretty sure scheduling 15 appointments with 15 doctors is not going to be a problem. I also have a University Bachelors degree and don't want to bombard the veterinarians with a portfolio of how to help sponsor (not monetarily, but they need to have over sight here in Texas by law). 

The Initial goal is to open a vaccine clinic, End goal is to over vaccines, spay/neuter, flea/tick/heart worm prevention meds. I live in Fort Worth, Texas where it is hot, humid, and we have tons of mosquitos, ticks and fleas. These seem to plague. Our local vaccine centers are not enough also the ones ran here are not structured well, in my logistics opinion, but I'm not looking to fix them. I want to provide an additional solution as our community's interest in caring for animals is growing.

Hello.  Have you reached to local veterinarians there and asked them if they would be interested in partnering with you on this project.  Maybe one day a month or two days a month.   That way they can still work their full time job but maybe they have a giving heart to help with this type of outreach.   It is difficult finding a veterinarian .  Or perhaps find a relief veterinarian group and post your need there.    I know this might not be helpful but this is just my initial thoughts..  Good luck.

We've had the most luck with out-sourcing vets. I called every vet clinic within a certain mile radius to assist us with wellness for in-house animals or hosting vaccine clinics. We finally had success after about a year of searching and would pay a day rate. We also had help from Bissell's Fix the Future, where they sent us vets to stay for a week at a time (we had to pay for lodging and mileage) and knocked out 30 surgeries a day (shelter and community animals) which was a huge help!

I love this for you. Here we are swamped. Every time I have taken one of my 15 pets its a 3 hour ordeal. We shouldn't in line that long. Inefficient. I can fix their logistics, but I won't cause I will be a direct competitor. I will reach out to them too.

I don't know what state or city you are in, it could be that certain things are allowed and others not. Here in Texas there has to be a veterinarian over seeing the entire operation. I can ask our board what they are willing to allow, though I doubt that they will say as the person answering the phone is a pain in the peaches.

We have no vet currently to do the oversight, Hence my incessant questioning . Here in Texas there has to be a vet in attendance or a vet overseeing operations. Also, I have been asked today if in Texas Veterinarians would be the only ones allowed by law to administer the rabies vaccine or can a vet tech do it. I have experienced vet techs do it, but what are the requirements of them being able to do it is what I want to know. Thank you for your question. This is a learning curve for me. But in a couple of years I will know most of it.

Banfield employees came out to our rural shelter to do a vaccine and microchip clinic as part of their volunteer/community outreach. 

The Community Care Grant application asks if you would benefit from having vets come volunteer as part of your proposed grant program or another program. https://www.banfieldfoundation.org/Banfield-Foundation-Grant-Programs

We also have a Banfield vet locally who started her own business and does other vet-required services outside of her regular hospital work. So Banfield might be a good way to connect with a network of vets.

 Hello from Grand Prairie :) I work at the municipal shelter here in town and when we do vaccine clinics and microchip clinics where we either do everything but the rabies, and our vet techs and officers are able to run the event or we have a working relationship with several doctors, 1 who will do events probono if it fits in their schedule and if they aren't available we do have to pay a day rate to a select few other vets for them to come and oversee the administering of the rabies vaccine. This is why we currently only do 1-2 clinics a year either at our facility or out in our community. We are hoping to make it quarterly this year and grow it even more next year.

I know the uphill battle you face all to well. 

I'd maybe look into local rescues who have their own facilities and vets on staff and see if they would be willing to donate their time or asking the current vets you work with if it's something they'd be open to. The worst they can say is no and you're in the same position you currently are. We partnered with SPCA Dallas last year with one of our microchip clinics (no vet) so that may be a place to start.

Thank you so much for posting your reply. This is wonderful that your organization is getting some help pro bono. There are just a handful of us volunteers here in the states doing this work for the St. Lucian dogs, so we are strapped pretty thin. I will talk to the other members to see if we can reach out to several vets to help with the care like you have done! They need vet care badly. I will definitley take your advice and contact other rescues as well. 

I see that you are an events coordinator, too. I did this work for medical conferences, but I am at ground zero right now in the rescue field events. One of our volunteers has a couple of events in March which I will go to and LEARN more :) I need all the help can get. Do you have a good idea for an event?
