Greetings, Community of Maddie's Pet Forum!
I hope this message finds you healthy and happy! I am thrilled to tell you about our recently incorporated non-profit organization, the Saint Francis Humane Society Police Department. Our mission? To provide safe, sound, and sensible law enforcement to protect animals who need it and ensure their welfare in our community.
As a recent startup, we have many hurdles to overcome, primarily, of course, raising money to do the things we need to do. One of the two immediate outcomes we want to achieve is to have two of our folks trained and ready to enforce humane laws. Toward that end, we are trying to come up with $8,000 to send them to the next state-approved training class. Once they graduate, they will be sworn in by our Court of Common Pleas.
Law enforcement that is kind and considerate is essential for dealing with the rising animal cruelty and neglect situations that we keep hearing about. The only way that can happen is if our officers are properly trained and are using the right resources. When humane police officers have that, they are, in turn, much better equipped to serve their sworn duties.
At present, our members are channeling their private funds into the acquisition of equipment essential for our organization. We are resolved to carry this mission forward, but the burden of financing it is making us feel stretched to the limit of our already precarious finances. We are appealing to you for help in this matter.
The Saint Francis Humane Society Police Department can truly be a factor in bringing about positive community change. But we need your help. The department runs on a shoestring budget, and we are currently understaffed.
For the individuals overseeing organizations, how have you gotten your funding? We hope to partner with the county we are in to get some type of basic annual funding.
