  • 1.  Finding grants/funding to hire employees

    Posted 04-10-2024 08:54 AM

We're fortunate to have a dedicated volunteer base, yet we've reached a critical juncture where hiring one or two paid staff members has become essential. We're seeking guidance from fellow rescues on avenues to secure funding or grants enabling us to make this transition. Unfortunately, our current financial resources wouldn't allow us to offer a fair wage. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Marcy,

That's a great question. We are always looking for funding (who isn't?) and rarely see funders offering money for staff salaries. At betterTogether Forever in Los Angeles, CA, we serve folks who need help in order to keep their pets and that requires many, many hours of staff time on the phone and in person providing food, supplies, vouchers, etc. as well as directing people to our partner organizations offering specialized help.  We couldn't keep pets in their loving families and out of the shelters without money for our caring paid staff. I'll be following your post to see how we might be able to find funding specifically for that purpose.

    Thank you!
