Hello Everyone!
My name is Sharon Gaitan, and I am the Founder of Helping Every Animal League (H.E.A.L.), a 501(c)(3) all-volunteer nonprofit organization (Tax ID #26-4707994).
H.E.A.L. was originally established to support the San Bernardino City Animal Shelter and has since expanded its mission to meet a growing and critical need within our community. Our primary focus today is providing medical insurance for Police K-9s throughout the Inland Empire through our campaign, Chewy's Red Ball Fund.
Currently, H.E.A.L. provides insurance coverage for more than 50 Police K-9s. While law enforcement agencies cover medical care during a K-9's active service, all medical expenses become the sole responsibility of the handler once the dog retires. H.E.A.L. wants to medically insure these K9's FOR LIFE! Unfortunately, this is often when K-9s require the most medical attention. Our program exists to ensure these loyal service animals receive the care they deserve without placing an overwhelming financial burden on their handlers.
As we continue to grow and strive to expand our reach beyond the Inland Empire, the cost of providing this essential coverage increases significantly. To sustain and expand our program, we rely on the generosity and support of community partners.
My Question for the group is, as a non-profit who is not about adopting/shelters/spay programs, what are the best ways to fundraise? Or what are the best groups to reach out to in regards to pro-community safety, pro-law enforcement, etc?
