Separation anxiety is very commonly misdiagnosed - pet guardians relinquish their pet to the shelter, saying their pet has sep anx, when the reality is that their dog is destroying things because they're bored or the anxiety is related to confinement and not separation from people. Is this an issue for your organization?
Once a pet gets labeled with separation anxiety, it tends to stick with them, whether or not it's true. Most shelters i work with say that pets with separation anxiety are more difficult to find homes for - is this true for you?
