  • 1.  How to make an adoption event successful?

    Posted 02-24-2025 10:43 AM

Hi! This is my first time posting here. I am one of the founders of a small 5013c3 foster and home based rescue in Richmond, KY called Little Muffins Kitten Rescue. We have been operating since May of 2023 and have had a little over 160 adoptions since then. We had a dog/cat boarding and daycare facility offer to host an adoption event for us and I am just wondering what all tips you might have to make the event as successful as possible in terms of adoptions and getting donations? Anything we should bring? Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

I would post on all social media platforms and share to all local pages. Post flyers on any public boards or at businesses that will allow you to. We have a great relationship with one of the local pizza places and they put our flyers on their pizza boxes! For events, we make sure to bring tables, something to store donations in (big box, empty table, barrel, etc.), extra clipboards, paperweights to hold everything down in case of winds, candy/treat jar for anyone who visits, flyers about our foster and volunteer programs, business cards, monetary donation box, and then when it comes to the animals, keeping them as comfortable as possible, extra box or cubby to hide in if they are afraid, clip-on fans in case of heat, shade...we usually don't put food out, just water and litter boxes and some toys. I also like having some feliway spray to spritz on everything. <3
