Hi Siobhan! This sound like a great idea (and I might borrow it to share with our fundraising team :) I think sharing donor's motivation could be a great way to encourage others to donate, maybe sparking a thought or feeling in them that prompts them to give. For example, if a donor talks about how good it felt to demonstrate to their children the importance of supporting good causes, maybe that would encourage other parents to do the same.
We have found that the more specific our stories are, the more effective they are. If a donation went toward a particular animal or family, highlighting that could be really powerful for others who then might consider giving.
I look forward to hearing how this goes for you and would love to follow you on social media to see how it plays out! Thanks!

Subject: How would you best leverage information about why YOUR donors give to your org?
Looking for feedback on an idea we have -- we would like to begin sharing quotes from our donors on our social media channels. Specifically, we want to share why they are motivated to give to our organization. We are thinking of posting a photo of a client along with the quote. Any thoughts on this idea and/or how to best leverage the reasons why our donors support our mission would be most welcome. I know there is general research available on donor motivation, but we think specific feedback from our donors could be very powerful.
For background: not a shelter or animal control, although we are all former shelter staff or volunteers. Our organization is probably best described as a safety net or pet retention program. We provide resources to pet owners to help keep pets in homes. We also leverage our clients trust in us to bring them human services (health and wellness services and supplies, household supplies, food).
