How do I determine the FMV of donated opened dry cat food?

Also,when I send a donation receipt do I list it as "used" or "opened"?

I know to not include values on a donation receipt but I don't know how to figure out the value for our financials in this situation.

On the donation receipt, I wouldn't put used or opened.  I'd just thank them for the donated item, and let them handle condition and value.

If you need a value on your end for record-keeping, maybe look up the retail cost on walmart.com and estimate it from there?
