  • 1.  Invitation to Participate in an IRB-approved Study on Attachment and Moral Injury in Animal Care Workers

    Posted 20 days ago

My name is Jamie McNally, Ph.D., LPC, and I am an independent researcher and the owner of Fortifyu, LLC, a company aimed at providing accessible mental health and well-being resources specifically for those in animal care and animal protection and welfare. I am conducting an IRB-approved study titled "Attachment and Moral Injury among Animal Care Workers," and I am seeking participants to contribute their valuable insights.

The purpose of this study is to explore the attachment styles, exposure to potentially morally injurious events (PMIEs), moral injury, and overall mental health of individuals involved in direct animal care. Additionally, I am examining factors such as meaning-making, identity, values, personal motivations, and personality traits that may influence these experiences.

I would be grateful for your assistance in completing this survey and sharing this study with your staff and volunteers. Participation involves completing an anonymous online survey, which takes approximately 12-15 minutes, with the option of also completing a part 2 of the survey that would take an additional 12-15 minutes. You can enter to win one of ten $25 Amazon gift cards for each part of the survey completed (20 gift cards in total).

Participants must be 18 or older and involved in animal care as a paid worker or volunteer. Participants can access the survey through the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/63ZFLXS

All responses are anonymous and confidential. Data collected from this survey will contribute to important research that aims to improve mental health support for animal care workers

I am happy to provide additional information about the study and address any questions you or your team may have. Please feel free to contact me directly at info@fortifyucoaching.com or (248) 382-8027.

Thank you for considering this request and for your ongoing dedication to animal care.

Yes, absolutely and thank you! Your support and willingness to share is deeply appreciated, and it will most certainly help to make this research successful. I really believe that this is a crucial area in need of attention to help animal care workers and I cannot wait to share the results so that we can continue to improve care for those doing this work. Thank you again!
