The sheltering world is currently facing immense challenges. High intakes, low adoptions, and the ever-present strain of making difficult decisions regarding the lives of animals can take a significant emotional toll on your team members.

Compassion fatigue, moral distress, and feelings of burnout are unfortunately all too common in our field. The constant exposure to suffering and loss can leave even the most dedicated individuals feeling overwhelmed and emotionally drained.

At the University of Florida Shelter Medicine Program, we recognize these challenges and are here to offer support. We understand the importance of addressing compassion fatigue head-on and empowering your team members to thrive in their roles.

That's why we've developed the Compassion Fatigue Strategies course, now in its tenth year and led by Certified Compassion Fatigue Educator Jessica Dolce. This course provides practical strategies for managing compassion fatigue and building compassion resilience. It covers topics such as:
    • Understanding compassion fatigue and its impact
    • Developing coping mechanisms for stress and burnout
    • Building self-compassion and resilience
    • Creating a supportive work environment
We believe that this course can be a valuable resource for your team members, helping them to:
    • Improve their well-being and mental health
    • Increase their job satisfaction and engagement
    • Provide better care for the animals in your shelter
Strengthen Your Team, Strengthen Your Shelter

When multiple team members participate in Compassion Fatigue Strategies together, it creates a shared language and understanding around compassion fatigue. This fosters a more supportive environment where colleagues can openly discuss their experiences, offer encouragement, and implement strategies collectively. By addressing compassion fatigue as a team, you'll not only enhance individual well-being but also cultivate a more resilient and collaborative shelter culture.

To facilitate this, we are offering a special 10% group discount for groups of 10 or more to make this course more accessible to your organization. To register your team, please visit the link below.

Investing in your team's well-being is essential. Compassion Fatigue Strategies can help your team members stay healthy and resilient, even in the face of difficult circumstances.
