For those of you who have donor recognition walls/display, what are the guidelines and thresholds? We would love some insiprational photos as we prepare to launch an annual gift recognition program via display at our shelter. Do you include trusts/foundations and corporate gifts? Any other advice you have for the planning process is also welcome!

We have many ways of recognizing big donors.  We have a display wall behind the reception desk with "name tag" shaped plaques that bear the names of individuals, corporations, and foundations who contributed to our capital campaign with a gift of over a certain level (I believe it is $50,000).  We also have naming opportunities - from naming a whole section of the shelter or just a specific room.  Lastly,  our biggest partner, West Houston Subaru, has a wall display dedicated to their support.  It has numbers (license plate) to represent the number of adoptions they have sponsored, which is updated weekly.  I'm attaching pictures.  Let me know if anything else would be helpful.

Wow, this is incredibly helpful and inspiring! May I ask – if someone gives a gift of $50,000, is their name on the wall forever, or only a certain amount of time? Also, can the $50,000 be a multi-year pledge?

We love our local Subaru dealers and partner with them as well, but it is approxiamtely $10k or less per year. If you don't mind sharing more about your partnsership with WHS, I'd love to hear more about that as well,

Avoid bricks that have to be set unless you add a time frame. We started bricks in 2009 and still haven't set them. And when folks by multiples they want them moved around so they are together.  And, at least here, there are few vendors who can make them.

We are a small exotic and farm animal rescue and $50K donors are very rare for us. With smaller donors we have our Walk-of-Fame brick walkway within our memorial garden. We make sure to install the bricks as soon as they come in.  We have been toying with the idea of naming a room or building after larger donors.

I love the name, 'Walk of Fame'- how clever! We have just about every room named in this facility possible, but we are always looking for funding as our annual expenses are 4M+. Here is our indoor exercise rom as an example of one of our named rooms!
