Has anyone done a pancake breakfast or spaghetti dinner fundraiser?  (Or other type of meal fundraiser)  We are in a very small rural community and these seem to be popular.  I'm unsure about how much work is involved in them though.  Ideas?

We've done the food trucks and the % back to the organization from local restaurants but are looking to do something that will bring in larger funds.

    Hi Karen,

We are a rural community too located in the poorest county in the state. However, our community stands behind us, appreciates what we do, and lends what support they can.

Our community loves it when we do the BBQ lunch fundraiser! We grill hotdogs and hamburgers, provide a choice of chips (individual mini bags), and a bottle of water for $5 each.  Generally, one or two of our community members will also provide baked goods (brownies, cookies, cupcakes) so we can add a dessert for free! We usually have way too much so we end up selling some too! We ask our local businesses and community members for raffle prizes which is hugely popular and sell tickets at $1 each or 6 for $5. As an example, last month we did one of these events which cost us $135 but we made almost $800.

We bring a BBQ grill out to one of the local businesses and set up in the parking lot so minimal volunteer time there and we have our very own BBQ king who always does the grilling, which he loves to do. It takes more time to set up the tables and raffle prizes than anything else. These are simple, easy events to host when in need of quick cash!
