Your organization is invited to participate in our annual
DOGust 1st celebration!
Starting August 1st, and celebrated thru August 9th,
it is widely known as the official birthday of shelter dogs.
It is estimated that 3.1 million dogs enter U.S. animal shelters every year. Many of these dogs don't have the proper paperwork or documentation to prove an exact date of birth. But even without exact dates, every dog deserves to have a birthday celebration. That is the main goal behind DOGust, to give every shelter dog without an official birthday a day to celebrate and promote them for adoption.
Get creative! You have the flexibility to tailor your event to what works best for your organization. In the past, shelters have offered incentives such as discounts, snacks, photo ops or themed weekends such as Dog Days of Summer/Beach Ball Blast/Puppy Pool Party. It's a great time to use social media and showcase your adoptables with cute canine content such as enjoying a pupsicle or pup cup treat. You can also take this opportunity to talk about summer safety tips.
We will provide every participant with a themed happy adoption photo backdrop, photo hand props, celebration buttons you can customize and frisbees to give out to your adopter's new family member as well as access to the digital toolkit. We will release a media alert announcing the event and your organization will be listed as a participant on the DOGust 1st event page.
Grants Up for Grabs!
At the end of the celebration there will be several grant prizes awarded.
Since we are capping participation at 60 shelter partners, the groups will be separated into three tiers based on the size of the organization.
The two groups who do the most adoptions and overall engagement in each tier will receive a grant!
There will be 6 winners with a total of $10,500.00 being awarded.
We will also have three additional grants that all groups can qualify for:
Most Compelling Adoption Story, Most Compelling Adoption Story Runner Up and Most Social Media Posts
(*using the correct hashtags that we will provide).
Between these three winners a total of $4,500.00 will be awarded.
So, no matter how big or small your adoption center is, everyone has a chance.
