Thanks so much for your response and input, Amber!
You can definitely bring an open and welcoming approach to your foster program, too, if that is the direction you'd like to take.
Some examples could be but are not limited to: expanding your foster program to a new demographic of people in your community (Assisted living facilities, schools, business, barn cats, new zip codes or neighborhoods, etc), making your foster volunteer onboarding more accessible and barrier-free (look at the application and the actual training itself), expand the way you market your foster program (TV, radio, social media, print, grassroots, partnerships with other organizations and businesses) and expand your foster program (foster-to-adopt, fospice, overnights and day trips).
We totally appreciate your feedback about how the challenge and reporting worked for you!

I think I combined my answer mixing in the "We foster challenge" later in the year- I apologize. Open arms focus is more welcoming 'customers' and adopters. The rest of my answer still applies. :)

As someone who has participated, but was confused about exactly what it was before I signed up before I did, I encourage you to sign up.
It is a "challenge" to try new approaches to get more fosters- as the videos and material show. They give a lot of good suggestions and it encourages staff to try new things in the shelter. You can't fail- it is signing up to try some new approaches. The reporting is easy- basically you fill out a form letting them know what you tried, what you didn't get to try and what worked well. It encourages conversations in the shelter about fostering and what works and what doesn't work as well. :)

I'm wondering if someone can help me understand what the Open Arms Challenge is?
