Hi Dr. Levine, thank you for a wonderful talk on the relationship between pain and behavior. I work with both pet dogs and rescue dogs, and one of my first questions when assessing behavior has always been: could this dog be in pain? For me, some of the most telling clues are how a dog sits, walks, and manages changes in height.
Over the years, I've increasingly provided pro bono support to rescues across the U.S., and virtual behavior consults have become my primary mode of work. As I've done fewer in-person consultations, I've been considering adding a short video of the dog walking to my intake questionnaire. Seeing the movement footage at the start of your webinar really encouraged me to move forward with that idea.
Is filming the dog from behind the best approach? In your example, the gait compromise was very clear. Are there other angles or movement patterns you recommend capturing, especially to help non-experts identify potential pain-related issues?
Thank you for your advice.

Hi,
There webcast will be available online 4 days after the original air date. During the Q & A you will likely hear responses that answers your questions as several others asked about how to approach vets about discomfort etc...
Sharing this video to a rescue group is totally fine ( at least that is my understanding but hopefully someone from Maddie's find will respond to that.

Unfortunately I missed this one. I read through the slides and realized I may have a pain issue with my dog. I have already talked to my vet and they gave me trazadone. I hate drugging my dog. How do I speak to my vet about investigating a possible pain issue? What do I say to get them more interested in treating versus dealing with my dogs aggressions issues? Are there tests I can suggest to get the conversation going? Also, will there be a recording posted? And can I share this with Just Giants Rescue? I think this is something our foster homes should know so we don't have to euthsnanize a dog for biting.
