Hi Michael,
It's great to hear that Humane Action Pennsylvania is looking into advancing pet-inclusive housing legislation in Pittsburgh! At the Michelson Center for Public Policy (MCPP), we work nationwide to advance policies that remove housing barriers for pet owners, so we'd love to connect and support your efforts.
We were actively involved in the work surrounding the Pet's Housing Act in Washington, D.C. as an engaged member of the Pets + Paws Coalition.
We'd love to set up a time to connect and learn more about your plans in Pittsburgh! Our Pet-Inclusive Housing Initiative (PIHI) under Michelson Center for Public Policy focuses specifically on this issue, and we'd be happy to share insights, data, and strategy recommendations. Let me know when you'd be available for a quick intro call-we'd love to collaborate.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
Best,
Nia Bratton

Subject: Pet Housing Policy
Has anyone worked on a bill similar to the Pet's Housing Act passed in Washington DC? DC capped pet rent at 1% of monthly rent and pet deposits at 15% of monthly rent, as well as eliminating breed and size restrictions and ensuring that homeless shelters have space for people with pets. Humane Action Pennsylvania is thinking about trying to get similar legislation passed in Pittsburgh.
