Animal Welfare Professionals

Hi all, 

I'm interested in learning about any fun incentive programs municipalities have used to encourage dog licensing.  I'm attempting to assist a municipality move away from their punitive approach and embrace a more positive way to engage with their community.

One year our group  offered anyone who licensed their dog(s) the opportunity to win a selection of donated gifts.  I'm not sure if it increased the number of licenses, but those who won something were really excited that they received a gift from the city.  That year the licenses were gold colored so we were able to use the phrase "Go for the Gold" to promote the effort.  We put all the license numbers in a large bone shaped container and had city officials draw the winners.  All this was on Facebook Live.  One drawback was getting people to ask for donated gifts--treat/toy baskets, training opportunities, books, etc.  If this were an annual tradition it might actually  develop into a licensing increase.
