I wanted to let folks know that if you have been thinking of teaching kids in your community about responsible pet ownership, we have a free YouTube channel that you can follow/subscribe to!
We're Talking Pets! with Robin
Each episode is about 6-7 minutes long and contains some aspect of responsible pet care including food/water/shelter, identification, spay/neuter, veterinary care and bite prevention, as well as the role of the animal shelter. We are introducing new episodes each week through September on dogs and cats.
Today we uploaded our first episode dubbed in Spanish! More Spanish episodes coming soon.
I've spent the past 16 months speaking to thousands of students about responsible pet care in Tennessee, and we realize we are limited by driving distance - so this is our way of getting these messages out there in a way that is easy and free for anyone to use. Our philosophy is that we need to educate children about critical topics that they might not learn at home. Not only will they grow up to be better pet owners, but they can also teach their families what they learned and change behaviors today!
Please have a look - I am happy to answer questions about what we do and the books that we use, which are all rooted in responsible pet ownership. I can talk about our strategy when we go to schools to maximize impact.
