Amber,
I'm a grant writer in Northern Minnesota but I did a little digging on programs for Alabama residents and nonprofits.
Petfinder and PetcoLove have annual and quarterly grant cycles and sometimes the funds awarded can be used for s/n efforts.
This is the Andrew Burgin Charitable Trust grant from Wells Fargo so it will probably be harder to get awarded unless you have a full/part time grant writer as part of your staff, but this is only for the State of Alabama.
The Remy Fund has grants ranging from $2,000 to $10,000 on average. This looks like it's for the greater Birmingham area just fyi.
The Save a Stray program out of Mobile looks like they'll partner with organizations and individuals for s/n assistance.
Here is a compiled list of some affordable s/n resources in Alabama.
Here is a compiled list of some animal grants in the US.
Check out the Bama Bully Rescue s/n assistance program. This would be a great resource to provide to your community.
I'm unsure if there are still funds for this as the last mention of this money is from 2023, but check it out. It's called the ALVMF S/N program and it's for low cost s/n.
Please look into BowWow Buddies emergency funds (NOT for s/n but will cover emergency care), your local VCA animal hospitals (if there are any they will be able to provide medical care through grants), and Red Rover Animal Relief fund- they will cover up to $250 in medical costs.
Lastly, I recommend subscribing to GrantWatch, Foundation Search, Candid Complete, National Council of Nonprofits, and the Alabama Council of Nonprofits (if you don't do so already).
I hope this helps!

Hey All!!
I am looking to see if anyone has any information on grants available that help with spay/neuter assistance for the community AND TNR. We are a rural community with really only one vet that we work closely with and our community is struggling to afford the rising costs of spay and neuter, not to mention an increasing population of ferals. We had a program, however it was costing us money to help the community, so we are just looking for some guidance!
Thanks in advance!
