  • 1.  Valley Fever In Cats

    I am writing this post in the hopes that some people can give me advice and support. I recently adopted our longest resident at our rescue and knew he was a senior and would have more medical issues in the future. About a month ago, he grew a lump on his neck. I figured it was cancer or some kind of tumor. We did xrays and bloodwork and nothing came back unusual, until we did a biopsy. The biopsy confirmed a fungal infection called Coccidioidomycosis in Cats or Valley Fever. I know it is rare in cats and we put him on Fluconazole to hopefully help. I am just wondering if anyone has any advice, success stories or encouragement to give me hope. He is still eating well and acting normal, except his lump on his throat. Any recommendations would be appreciated!!!

    Thank you so much for the information! I emailed them, so hopefully I can get more information. He's a senior boy with other medical issues (severe spondylosis), so this infection came out of nowhere and I am just trying to help him as much as I can. Thanks again!
