Hey Marianne!
I LOVE looking for creative new ideas on how to recognize volunteers. We did a few years back, a celebration for hitting 20,000 hours of volunteer service within a year, so we held a Roaring 20's party. Volunteers & staff all came dressed up in 20's garb which was fun, but the more notable part, was that we had specific certificates printed for volunteers that were unique to them. This could take some time if you were doing it for each & every volunteer, so I also recommend maybe doing certificates for little groups. Such as we have a team that always comes in on holidays to walk our pups so we made their group all the same certificate of "Holiday Heroes". Here are some of the other certificates we made, again, just so volunteers feel seen & appreciated on an individual level:
- Perfect Pawtner
- Director's Award
- Shelter Superhero
- Behind the Scenes Superstar
- The Cat's Meow
- Data Darling (for our computer vols)
- Faithful Companion (for our tenured vols)
- Medical Maven
- New Best Friend (for our less than 1 yr in role)
- On the Spot
- Outta This World (for our vols who find creative ways to fundraise)
- Pawtrait Perfector
- Small & Meowty Team
- Surgical Sweetie
- Trail Wagger
It costs super minimal to have them printed on color if you send them to like a Staples. We also had a few depending on the award that we ordered frames for from Amazon for very low cost.
Hope that helps!
