Weekly Community Conversation: The Data Behind Why We’re Running Out of Space

When:  Sep 12, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM (PT)
Associated with  Animal Welfare Professionals

The primary driver of shelters feeling at – or over – capacity in the first half of 2022 is due to the imbalance of too many animals staying behind as total outcomes have been falling short of intakes – for month-after-month – beginning in 2021. That, coupled with staffing and volunteer shortages, veterinarian shortage, decreased funding, and more, has made it even more challenging.

We will be joined by @Stephanie Filer, Executive Director and Samantha Hill, Director of Data and Technology at Shelter Animals Count. The Shelter Animals Count 2022 Q2 report will provide insights to the first half of the year, and a forecast for what we can expect the last half of the year. The forecast is an estimate based on past data and assumes no changes occur in the industry.

About Community Conversations
:
Maddie’s Fund, hosts a weekly hour-long Zoom call for animal well-being professionals. These calls are a collaborative space to share exciting new programs and research, discuss uncomfortable topics, connect with peers in the industry, and more, all while sharing a common goal of preserving the human-animal bond.

This call, recurring each Monday unless otherwise posted, is for executive directors, animal well-being leaders, shelter workers, pet support professionals, volunteers, and rescue organizations.

You need only register once to attend each recurring meeting. By registering for this event, your email address will be added to our community conversations mailing list where weekly meeting agendas and announcements are shared by Maddie's Fund. We do not share your information.

All calls are recorded and uploaded to the Community Conversations page on Maddie’s Pet Forum https://forum.maddiesfund.org/communityconversations
