The Role of Companion Animals in Recovering from Trauma will be focused on discussing the following objectives: 

1.) What happens in the human body in response to trauma with underpinnings in the lens of neurobiological responses and the polyvagal system.

2.) The role of animals in healing from trauma from through the lens of both neurobiology and attachment.

3.) Systematic considerations for the co-sheltering of humans and their animal companions and why this is so critically important to cultivating a more trauma-aware and responsive system.
