Hello Fellow Professionals/Animal Lovers,

Just a quick question...What do you find are the best hours and days for adoptions?  We are currently open Tuesday-Friday 11-5 and Saturdays 10-2 for adoptions.    We are a summer tourist destination so Sundays are a low traffic day for us (we have tried 12-4 on Sundays, for a year and only had 3 adoptions).

We are open for adoptions from 1-5 Mon-Wed, and from 11-5 Thur-Sun.  Intake is open 7 days a week from 10-2.

We found that having a consistent opening time has been helpful for communication with the public.  Ideally we would be open for the same hours everyday but like everything else, it is affected by staffing. Our busiest days are Friday through Sunday.

We are open seven days a week at noon.  On Mondays and Thursdays we close at 6:30 to allow people who work business hours a chance to engage with us.  Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays we close at 5:00, Saturday at 4:00 and Sunday at 3:00.  We are considering putting Sunday back to 4:00, but we did it once and had pushback from staff! 

It has been years since we added the two 6:30 closings; they made a big difference in the number of people in the shelter and therefore adopting.  If I could get the staff, I'd love to be open until 6:30 every day!
