Is food budgeted for? (sent by NancyKate)
I'm not usually involved in the numbers, but from my understanding, our food is budgeted through our kennel budget. Specialty food can either be through our kennel budget or occasionally our veterinary budget as well.
How do you handle potential fosters who won't commit because they are afraid they will "get attached?" (Cherlene)
Honestly? this is a great topic for community events that I mentioned. At our last foster coffee shop meet up, myself and experienced volunteers spoke with a kitten foster who had a hard time imagining getting her 4 kittens adopted when they're so happy in her home. There was a great TikTok / Instagram trend recently where well known foster accounts made a chain of "If I adopted this foster, then I couldn't have saved my next one." with videos of each animal. Tiki's foster - simonsits - might've posted one .
is the Pet sitters volunteers or paid staff (Kim)
Petsitting fosters are not paid. We do have fosters who choose to pay for private boarding or petsitting with prior approval from the foster coordinator, but we do not provide financial reimbursement.
Hope this helps!
