Hi Dr. Irvine,
Thank you for sharing the information on the courses. Is the 3 course series self guided ? I did not see the option to audit the course. When I click on enroll for free, the link takes me to a credit card payment form which states that the free trial is 7 days and after such date, my credit card will be charged. Does this sound like I am at the right place? Thank you again for making this course available.

Hi everyone!
I'm a professor of sociology at the University of Colorado Boulder. I've studies various aspects of animal welfare and animal sheltering for over two decades. For most of that time, I have taught a face-to-face class titled "Animals and Society." I wanted to let you all know that I have a free online course available that covers most of the topics included in the class, many of which would interest animal welfare professionals. It's a 3-course specialization in Animals and Society offered through the University of Colorado Boulder and hosted online through the Coursera platform.
Learners can audit any and all courses for free or enroll and complete the courses to earn a shareable certificate. Learn more at https://www.coursera.org/specializations/animals-society
To audit, click on an individual course, then click to enroll for free. A pop-up will appear with the option to "Audit the course" at the bottom of the screen. To get a certificate, you must enroll and pay the fee. There are various payment plans, and most run between $39 and $79 per month.
Full disclosure: I'm not plugging this to make money. I do receive a percentage from the fees charged to those who want the certificate, but I donate any earnings to animal welfare organizations. My interest is in sharing knowledge about animals.
