We have a lobby group here in Missouri that does a lot to get laws passed for animal welfare. They are called Missouri Alliance for Animal Legislation www.maal.org.
Good information is on their website. You could also contact your local Humane Society and see if they know of any groups that push for stricter laws.

In Texas there is a group called Texas Humane Legislation Network that focuses on this. If you contact them I'm sure they would share information. I've been to seminars and conferences they've run where they go over what works and what doesn't. They also sponsor a "Humane Lobby Day" to bring people to the state capitol to meet with legislators directly and drive support for legislation to aid animals. You can see more at THLN.org.

Any ideas on how to advocate for stricter animal abuse laws and get them passed locally. A local rescue has started the process of trying to take people to court that has severely abused animals in the community..BUT the question is how to actually get these laws in place as soon as possible.
