Our rescue is coming up on a very large change soon and it means possibly us growing and purchasing a building for our cats.
Some of the board says yes some say no some are quiet.
I hope to pitch the idea of it with some actual numbers soon so if you have a facility can you please answer our questions:
What ongoing costs surprise you the most?
What was your timeline from the idea or opening the doors?
Did you do a capital campaign? If so, what worked?
Would you recommend campaigning before or after securing a property?
Does a nicer facility help increase your volunteers fosters donors or cause more stress on them?
If we are nervous is that a red flag or normal?
What would you tell a rescue looking to do this to avoid?
What is one mistake you made that you would redo?
