See if you have a Goods Ambassador in your area. The Goods Program offers food and litter at .15c per pound. The downside is that it's dependent on when the ambassadors receive a truck, and sometimes they are few and far between. The food may be sourced through open bag donations (from Chewy I think), which are mixed brand pallets with bags taped up, or sometimes manufacturers donate and there's a whole pallet of one thing available. Sometimes they are near or just over expiration dates. Despite it not being a reliable source it's been a valuable program for us.
When we aren't getting any Good trucks to purchase from we buy the 25lb purple bags at Costco for $22.50. It doesn't meet WSAVA standards, if that's important to you, but it's not bad food for the price.
We joined the Petfinder shelter program and it offers discounts (50% if I recall correctly) off Purina Pro Plan and prescription lines. These are too costly for us but if you're buying those already it's a great discount.

Subject: Resource to buy reasonable cat food?
Hi everyone.
I always say that Garden City Community Cats Project doesn't really rescue cats. We rescue the caregivers that rescue the cats. We give out about $1000 of cat food a month to our colony caregivers so they can continue to feed and care for their cats. This helps guarantee that they will continue caring for the cats without a hardship to themselves and continues our relationship so that we can spay and neuter any new cats for them for free.
GCCCP puts out a newsletter every two months to get the community caught up on all the work that we have been doing. We have a wish list on both Amazon and Chewy. Supports loved ordering food off our wish list, and after the newsletter went out it looked like Christmas at my door. But reasonable cat food has become nonexistent on Amazon. Everything says out of stock, so nothing comes. Chewy has a few reasonable brands I will ask for. Even if community members go to the trouble to pick up bags of food from stores they're hard to find.
Has anyone noticed this?
So my question is does anyone know a source for low cost cat food. Even wholesale. We wouldn't mind buying a large amount for a discount price, even a reasonable price. I'm looking for a dollar a pound. I don't distribute food that is mostly corn and filler. No animal deserves that.
