  • 1.  Waiver to be on property to do TNVR

    Does anyone use a waiver for feeders, cat caretakers, business owners, etc. to sign off on allowing trappers on their property?  We have never used one and never had a problem (going on 6 years now), but a suggestion was to have some verbiage at the bottom of our online Request For Assistance that would cover us for liability.  It would be "quiet" and hopefully not concerning to citizens asking for our help and would not require written consent at the time of trapping.  Thoughts, ideas, experiences?

    We do not have a waiver, but I am following your thread because four weeks a local who has been working on TNR in our community for serval years was arrested for trespassing.  The judge threw out the charges because the person is known in the community for her work with cats, the property was abandoned. 
    I would love to be able to offer her a resource to ensure the issue does not come up again.

    Morning Connie.

    My question is, who feeds on the property? 

    I think my biggest resource is my caregivers. I dont trap until i know who is feeding th cats. I do this by knocking on doors and looking for food bowls. Neighbors always lnow 😉 

    By following that rule i have a valuable resource and information.

    I go by the moto "every cat has an owner"

    But i do trap in a city. Country trapping might be different 

    What kind of resources were u thinking about?

    A waiver would protect you. We recently had a person, in our community arrested for trespassing while capturing a feral cat.  The case hasn't gone to court; we are waiting to see the outcome.
