October - December 2022 Resource Drive: Holiday Promotions

  • 1.  October - December 2022 Resource Drive: Holiday Promotions

    Posted 10-04-2022 02:22 PM

The final resource drive for 2022 is all about Holiday Promotions!

Show & tell us about Fall/Winter Holiday Promotions you are planning to do, have done in the past, or have seen others do well!

With the Fall season in full swing and Winter right around the corner, it's time to start thinking about what promotions or marketing campaigns your organization will try out to increase adoptions, find fosters, keep pets in homes, raise funds and engage your community around the holiday season.

In October you have the opportunity to play dress up with your adoptable pets in the most popular Halloween costumes of the year. November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving and leads into December's giving season and the popular holiday season with Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah and New Years' Eve. Many organizations also hold their end of year fundraising drives, galas and other special events.

    How to Participate:

    1.  Reply on this thread with details about your most popular holiday promotions you've done in the past. Share links to social media posts, webpage links and other creative materials you used for the promotion.
    2.  Reply with what you plan to launch this year! What holidays is your organization planning to focus on, what goals you are trying to achieve (ex: we need to raise awareness about our pet food pantry), and how you plan to engage your audience.
    3.  Share a favorite holiday promotion you liked that another organization did. Be sure to give them credit by including that organization's name.

Where Will the Holiday Promotion Resources be Stored? How do I view them?

All holiday promotion resources shared on this thread will be accessible in the "Holiday Promotions" folder in the Maddie's Pet Forum Library: https://maddies.fund/holidaypromotionslibrary

Share & You'll Be Entered To Win $50

Everyone who uploads a file, shares a resource on this thread or replies with information about a holiday promotion from October through December will be entered to win a $50 gift card to Amazon, Petco or PetSmart (winner's choice).  Start sharing now!

    Pro-Tips for sharing resources:

    • Use the "Upload File" button when replying to this thread to attach a file. We encourage you to attach the file versus hyperlinking to the file whenever possible. Files that are attached get automatically added to the Maddie's Pet Forum Resource Library so attaching helps make the resource searchable and improves accessibility within the forum.
    • Yes, you can share resources that your organization did not create. Sharing is caring and this applies to resources too! Make sure the creator allows the resource to be shared publicly and be sure to give credit to the creator or source organization.

We're doing an October promotional adoption fee of $13 for all black, orange, tortie & tuxedo cats & kittens! We do tend to get some pushback for offering black cats for adoption during October, due to the myths associated with black cats and Halloween, but we provide a link to information correcting this mindset. We're having an adoption event at a local museum and participating in a huge Animal Welfare/Adoption event with a bunch of other local shelters & rescues in November. We're hosting an event at our thrift store, Gabbi's Holiday Party (Gabbi is one of our thrift store cats not up for adoption) with tickets being sold for an exclusive shopping event and potluck. During that event, we'll have a Holiday Open House at the shelter. I haven't worked out all the details yet, but the goal is to get kitties into their homes for the holidays, and find new people to support our mission.

So cute, Kim! Great idea about including a link with info about the myth of black cat adoptions in October. Do you have any graphics/social media posts/flyers etc. that you can attach so we can include it in our resource library for others to see?

    Kim,

These ideas are great. I love the fact that you will be having an open house. I think this will help to get exposure to the animals in the shelter. I hope that everything that you have planned is a success.   At one of my previous jobs we all dressed up as black cats for Halloween to push adoptions for our black kitties.

We do/have done quite a few feline adoption promotions. Most are for all cats & kittens, but our Halloween-themed one, "Pumpkin Spice and Black as Night" is for cats/kittens with any black or orange in their fur (so pretty much every cat except greys and whites). Our others are "Feline Fall Frenzy," "Adopt Till You Drop," and "Happy Mew Years!"

We also hold a Halloween event at the shelter. Prior to COVID it was a "Howl-o-ween Party" where we'd hold a party with pumpkin painting, costume contests, and other kid-friendly things, and dress up the (willing) animals for a few hours and take small groups through to see them. Now we do a "Trunk-or-Treat" in our parking lot.

In December we also typically do a "Pet Portraits with Santa." We did a Holiday Party afterwards one year as well. This year we're also offering a day camp for kids during the winter break (27th-30th). We've run the camp during the summer for several years, but this is he first time we're doing it in the winter. Our year-end fundraising campaign is called "Gift of Hope" and it focuses on raising funds for our Animal Medical Fund, so we feature stories of animals who have come in needing extra medical care and were able to get that care because of this fund, and go on to be adopted. We run this campaign online and send out a mailer.

I've attached some of the images we used to promote.

Thank you for sharing so many of your promo images, Samantha! Looks like your end of the year is super busy with fun promotions.

I'd love to hear more about your day camp for kids during winter break. How long are they there each day? What ages are the kids? What types of activities do they do?

Thanks again for sharing all of these. I hope they're all hugely successful!

The camp runs from 9 am to 4 pm each day, and it's for kids from 5 to 12 years. In our past camps we've had presentations from the local police K9 units, local herpetological society, dog sports demos like doggie dancing and carting, an author of an animal-related book, local ferret rescue, local House Rabbit Society chapter, and conservation-themed theater. The kids do crafts like making adoption posters for current adoptable animals, no-sew blankets, treats, cat wand toys, etc. Of course they also get a shelter tour and meet shelter animals and/or pets of our shelter staff if we don't have any dogs that would be comfortable with large groups of kids at the time.  I'm sure there's more that I'm forgetting, but I'm not directly involved so I'm just trying to remember based off of our promo materials and the info I'm given to share on social media.

It is mostly dogs, but we do get some cats, and we've even gotten some ferrets and rabbits! We do appointments so we don't just have a huge line of people waiting, which does help to keep it a little less chaotic and noisy, but I still think for the majority of cats it would probably be a little much.

Do you have any photoshop-savvy people in your org? Maybe a spin on the bad pet drawings -- submit your photo for a (possibly bad) 'shop of santa with your pet! Or pets in holiday settings/costumes. I've attached a photo I did for one of my foster cats to give you an idea of what I'm thinking. I sent this as an xmas card.

    Hi Lisa,

Something I immediately think of when it comes to a holiday alternative for cats and kittens are these videos of creating a holiday scene with toys, presents and other enticing items for kitties. The cats don't even have to interact with humans, just toys and each other!

You could create a holiday scene in one of your cat play areas where potential adopters can watch while also recording cats doing what cats do best, playing! You can then use the video on your social media platforms to ask for donations or reduce adoption fees for any of the felines or do a Facebook Live stream of the holiday kitty play time.

Hulu even has an episode of something like this called, "A Very Kitty Cocktail Party" that I've watched a couple times during the holidays: https://www.hulu.com/series/a-very-kitty-cocktail-party-fa0f5524-3248-4ef5-8717-552e14d53c72

We had our pictures with Santa today and had a great turn out!

Being a small community, it is not like in a city, but making just over $100 makes us very happy. Do many dogs, a couple of cats, and plenty of kids. We even gave our pet toys from Santa.  Our photographer is already eager to do it next year.

For 5 years No kill Colorado runs a campaign called "Home for the Holidays",  We partner with shelters and rescues in order to get pets adopted, or in foster from Thanksgiving to Christmas day.  The criteria are simple.  The pets must come from Colorado shelters and rescues, must be 3 years or older OR have special needs (behavior or medical), the organizations must have a valid PACFA license and they must be members of SARA (Shelter and Rescue Alliance) of Colorado.

We have saved hundreds of lives with this campaign and are looking at 300 this year alone.

NKC starts with a $5000 fund they provide and looks for corporate sponsors and donors to match twice that in order to succeed with the goal of 300.  Every time a participating organization gets a foster home or adoption from Thanksgiving to Christmas with the criteria above, NKC donates $50 to that organization.  We hope to give away (and raise) at least  $15,000 this year.

Our shelter (like many others listed here) does a wide array of promotions throughout the holiday season. My two personal favorites that we do annually are Operation Firepaws (where donations are collected at all the Fire Department Stations throughout the County) and Home for the Holidays. For Operation Firepaws, our amazing Fire Department staff get to come down with ambulances filled with treats, goodies, and supplies for our pet pantry clients and shelter animals. Its always very successful and they end up filling our whole education room by the end of it. Its really such a fun and engaging collaborative community event. Additionally our Home for the Holidays promotion focuses on lining up foster homes for shelter animals through the week of Christmas. Many of these families end up adopting these pets and it allows the shelter to be relatively (almost completely) empty through the holiday week giving staff and the animals a much needed holiday reprieve and some wonderful time to celebrate joyfully. Our very talented Adoption and Development teams sprinkle in an array of other promotions throughout depending upon the trends of adoptable animals that year.

Hi there- I work for a hospital system and help raise money for our pet therapy program and animal-assisted intervention work serving patients.

We are planning to do a dog treat cooking competition sometime either at the end of year or into January. The cook off contest has volunteers and dogs who can come and make treats with their pets. Charging people to submit entries for the contes "healthy pet" initiative.  We will see! Interested to see if anyone has done anything like this?

    Pamela Curry, @Unchat Microblogger Twitter
I have a family of cats, if I told you what they meant to me you would find it scary. I study AI & Electronic Warfare.

While I was absorbed in this I found my first family of cats living in the wild. At the time my first family of cats was dying
I started to spend more time on Twitter. As a microblogger, I tweet to bring awareness to situations where cats and kittens have
an immediate needs to be rescued or pulled from death row.  I do much more but this is too short.

This year I've aligned with a group of fundraisers for Cat Rescue, Worldwide,. They are individuals each doing something different to promote cat related causes  through a CRAFT COLLECTIVE. They choose who they support, but sometimes take recommendations. I saw a huge gift of blankets, scarfs and knitted goods getting ready to go to Blind Cat Rescue.

This particular Collective is International, they support officially credentialed rescues and people who do rescue abroad who they just want to help, like the Cat Man of Allepo-whose government has now recognized him as a not for profit Rescue in Syria.

BOOKS AS FUNDRAISERS FOR XMAS,  EZ to Publish at Draft2Digital.org or Amazon Kindle
CRAFT COLLECTIVES , creations - knitting - original events (cat weddings)
This year the woman who organizes the collective @Frisky9,
published a short book through Smashwords, it is their second  book.

I was given two scarves this year to help promote their fundraising efforts.  I want to tell you that the works of the
collective consist of mostly knitted goods intended for wear or use by Cats.  They make very
nice blankets as well. I strongly believe in areas where euth is high, like Polk County-where I live-a Collective of Artists could
make change. As long as it is understood some of them do what they do because they are handicapped,.

As good as an idea as an Art Collective for Fundraising for Rescue is, this doesn't go anywhere without
Microbloggers and an international network of people appears to work best.
That is because local calamity can leave too many people in one area that are unable to help.

Smashwords & Draft2Digital are one company now, Draft2Digital has a huge depository of How To Videos on YouTube,
Self Publishing is Free, but to make money you need to do background research in your area on what will sell to the audience that you choose to market

@Frisky9 {Twitter} Organizes the Craft Collective in Australia,
Robyn has wonderful craft knitting skills and ideas

    Frisky's Friends & Scarves
    https://books2read.com/u/mVAPwA
It's a short book, they chose to support a fellow tweeter. I loved going to the online wedding of two
cats, and my guys loved the wedding party apparel, a purple scarf, someone gifted us.

If you follow this Twitter account you will see many examples of what a fundraising collectives can do
even when some of their members is very ill, or has a lifetime disability.
    https://twitter.com/frisky9/status/1500505034525528066

If you have the people to start a collective you can reference this material for ways to make the presentation
of the product just fun to follow.  Like all group endeavors they have to overcome obstacles so each Collective
has to decide what their contacts and skills will allow them to accomplish.

Thanks for Sharing this, Pamela Curry. I no longer do only Twitter Death Row Cats Sharing, I'm moving towards
my own goals while trying to keep the special needs of areas like Polk County in the public eye!

Merry Xmas everyone, I don't have time to edit, at the ER list week too much to do.

This year we plan on working with some of the small businesses in the area and celebrate "small business Saturday" by promoting one of our adoptable cats or dogs with an item from the small business such as a cat with a coffee drink from a local coffee shop or a dog next to cute items in a boutique. This helps increase the awareness of our rescue group and generates more followers by tagging the business on our page. It also helps us support local businesses that support us year around!

I plan to start taking photos hopefully tomorrow, so will post a few soon as examples!

The Fayette Humane Society is putting on our annual Christmas Tour of Homes on December 4. Five Fayette County, GA, homeowners have offered their houses for this event, working with interior designers to decorate them beautifully for the holidays. Local restaurant owners are donating food for holiday snacks in each home, and students from the high school orchestra will play music for the visitors.  All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the cats and dogs in our care.

Our rescue Aiding 2 Adoption is holding our 2nd annual "12 Strays of Christmas" adoption and awareness event.  The event is held at our local PetSmart and will feature cats and dogs available through our rescue.  We will offer a "picture with Santa", hand out candy canes and treats for cats and dogs and this year we will have a bake sale - human and pet items available.  We will also have a local artist who will complete a water color portrait of your pet (we will get a portion of the cost) and a local author who wrote a book featuring one of our rescues and also created a coloring book about our rescue.  We will have raffle baskets (donated by local businesses) and an auction.

Last year we started an adoption event called the 12 Hours of Christmas. We stay open from 9am-9pm, we do $12 adoptions plus give away $50 gift cards to a pet supply store (last year was PetSmart), every adopted pet gets a present from under the tree--it's all very cute. We had 155 pets get adopted or fostered in the 12 hours last year. We will be repeating it this year with a couple of tweaks! I have attached an ad we placed in our alt weekly with the event logo and some details.

UPDATE: New 2022 Holiday Cards here:

Pawster Nashville is a newer organization, but we did a "Home for the Holidays" campaign at the end of 2020. Last year we did not have a separate year-end campaign from Giving Tuesday, but we created a way that people could "Sponsor a Pet" in someone else's name as a gift. This required creating a webpage featuring some of our current foster pets and a separate fundraising campaign where people could type in the name of the pet they want to foster. Then we sent them an e-card they could pass on to the gift recipient. This was a little complicated and not very user-friendly, so I'd love to hear other ways that organization do "sponsoring a pet."

Instead of having them pick a pet, make the gift an "adoption Package'.  They can still look at all your pets available and get excited about them, then buy an adoption package for a person.  This provides some benefits to you and the adopter.
    1. You don't have to have a complicated process, just an adoption package bundle (or a few levels - cat, dog, special needs, etc.)  you put together.
    2. You can set a simple bundle, but add bigger bundles with a training package included for people that want to donate more.
    3. Your bundle could have a take-home package with in-kind donations from companies for pet food, toys, leashes, etc.
    4. You don't have to worry about someone gifting a pet that is not a good fit for the adopter.
    5. Adopters get to see all your pets and maybe can help you move some of your long-term, special needs stays.

I love this idea and agree with Davyd on the approach.  You can still feature your animals but provide different donation levels and how much that amount covers.  For example, a $100 gift made in honor of ________________ helps provide vaccinations for a litter of kittens.

No past promotions yet but we are just getting started using Canva and here is what we have so far! Our focus will be on every USA Holiday next year with those themes. We want to be more diligent about special animal celebrations days as well such as Earth Day, International Animal Days, etc.  We like the promotion that The Haven No-Kill Animal shelter did "Home for the Pawlidays" at Holiday Adoption Promotion this Black Friday - The Haven No-Kill Animal Shelter (havenforanimals.org)

Our final end-of-year shelter fundraiser is a holiday card to all of our donors.  It does include some expense for printing and mailing, but we have found it to be good shelter fundraiser in our community.

Each year we pick a topic.  This year is it is "Shelter Pets and Education: Reading to Shelter Pets Program."  We have a very talented volunteer that draws up usually three or four card cover ideas to select from, then we finish the inside, back cover, and mailer insert.  Our card, mailer, and donor database is then sent off to printer, usually by the end of October, with a mail date of December 1.

This is our current promotion for Christmas. We are having an open house and photos with Santa. Hopefully this will promote our adoptable kittens and bring in some holiday donations (whether items or monetary donations). We have had success with this in the past couple of years.

Come get your picture with Santa and some of our kitties! The rescue will be open to the public and we will have snacks and refreshments. Professional photos will be taken by Lap of Luxury: Lifestyle Pet Photography in exchange for donations.

pet adoption voucherOur shelter is promoting a pet adoption voucher for people who want to give a pet as a gift rather than have them give someone a pet for the holidays. This is to remind people that gifting is not the same as surprising. The voucher allows the recipient of the gift to go pick out their choice of pet and allows them to make that connection with the cat or dog versus choosing one that fits the giftor's likes but may not fit the recipient's.

We have Santa coming for pictures with pets and kids!

For a $5 donation, a volunteer photographer will take pictures of children or pets with Santa and the pictures will be emailed. Pets also get a toy from Santa. We hope that while families are here they will take the time to visit our adoptable pets and maybe purchase some of our animal lover gifts, which help support our shelter.

Since it has been a few years since this shelter has done a Santa day, we hope this will pull in the public. We sit outside of city limits, as the town nearest us has a breed ban, and often people forget we are here.

I work for Beesley Animal Foundation. We have 4 programs- Beesley Animal Clinic (Spay-Neuter, Vaccinations, etc), Education Program, Financial Assistance Program, and Outreach Program.

We were trying to come up with a Holiday (aka Howliday)/ End of Year fundraiser. We decided on a "Heifer International" like fundraiser that is local and centers around our programs. Also, we started it just before Giving Tuesday because EVERYONE is doing something for Giving Tuesday and we wanted to use this fundraiser and have it run for several weeks.  Donors can choose from Clinic Services that will benefit those that qualify for Financial Assistance or Pet Food for our Outreach Program which is distributed to 7 agencies around us, plus our own distribution.

We will continue to share the following on our website and social media.  Fingers crossed!

"Want to get an early start on your Holiday shopping?

Need a gift for someone who has everything? Give a gift that helps keep a dog or cat healthy! These gifts will assist pets and their humans in Middle Tennessee.

When you donate gift(s) to Beesley Animal Foundation, we will send an e-card to your recipient (honoree) and cc you as well when you fill out the form below. Choose to send Merry Christmas or Happy Chanukah wishes to your friends and family this year!

Click the "Beesley Holiday Giving Form" below to start shopping with a purpose and give the gift of happy pets to your loved ones today."

Not holiday related, but for the month of November, one of our fantastic volunteers initiated a Foster First adoption promotion (for some of our longer stay cats). She worked alongside our adoption coordinator to identify cats (those with us for 6 months or more) and promoted them on social media/informed our other adoption host volunteers. The promotion allowed the adopter to foster the cat for 30 days to see if it was a good fit and then they could finalize the adoption. During the month of November, 8 of our longer stay cats were adopted or foster-to-adopt (including one of our diabetic cats)!

That's awesome! Would you be willing to share your adoption return policy? I ask because I'm wondering if adopt and return is simply more off-putting for potential adopters than foster-to-adopt (like they think they would feel less guilty returning a foster than they would returning an animal they adopted if it didn't work out, for example) or if there's a practical element that makes foster-to-adopt a better option.

We have a pretty open return policy so we typically don't do foster-to-adopt unless there's medical issues or something involved and it just makes more sense for us to retain ownership of the animal at the time. If it's simply a matter of perception for adopters though, it is something I think we should look at.

Personal I feel Fostering has a sense of doing good helping animals almost bragging rights or pride Fostering animal great live and joy very rewarding even if you Foster fail you have been successful in improving the life of an animal. (Return a dog like a sweater from aunt  does not sound the same even if tried and it wasn't a match) Fostering has been compared to dating looking for love an one want to spend life with Foster is ideal way to get to know a dog find perfect fit if that is what Foster is looking for at that time in their life. Sometimes Fostering is meant to be temporary and a dog is helped for a short time that isn't meant to be a life match the Foster decided to Foster a breed who know doesn't fit their long-term lifestyle yet happy to help find the ideal home for the dog. Example for myself Fostering a really active high energy dog works only short term as I can't keep up at my age but I introduce that dog to friends who are outdoor enthusiasts and match. I worked a a license massage therapist including animal massage for 20 years so I am fostering a special needs dog since February 14, 2022 will probably Foster fail as I am who she needs would love to find out about sponsors. Do any of the organizations do permanent Fosters getting sponsor or  special needs dog would love information on that type of program.

    Hi Samantha,

We were wondering this too or if it was the more of the hype and getting everyone to focus on these cats or a combo!

We also typically do not do foster to adopt unless there is a continuing medical issue  that our medical staff is still treating, but when our volunteer presented us with this idea and offered to run with it - we wanted to give it a go! I should have mentioned earlier that a few of our longer stay cats are those that are not suited to be at the adoption center so we have them in foster homes. Our volunteer promotes these cats by doing facebook lives in the fosters home.

We do have a no fault return policy that is part of our adoption contract. So a cat can be returned at anytime and we don't judge adopters if they do have to return the cat to us. I do make it part of my new volunteer orientation that we don't judge adopters if they do have to return the cat for whatever reason, it doesn't matter. We are here to help both the cats and adopters.

Although I typically don't interact with adopters, I do occasionally and often when I do tell them about our no fault return policy, sometimes the response is "I would never do that" so I do think people are still wary of judgement of others, us or also themselves. So, I do think there is still plenty of room for growth/education needed in the area of making sure that there is not a stigma around returns because ultimately it is a barrier to adoption.

Here is our returns philosophy that we shared with our volunteers. :)

We did Black Fur-day instead of Black Friday. All adult cats and dogs with black fur were 50% off.

Last year we did a Secret Santa/Paw Angel Tree (I don't remember what we called it) but it really helped spice up getting donations. We made a list of some longer stay animals (you can pick whoever) and asked them what they wanted for the holiday and made a "Christmas list". So you can either make ornaments with the animal and put this info on the back or you can do it digital (for those living far away/without a car/want to do online shopping) where you just send a cute holiday photo (it won't let me upload a photo) and their list. If there are specific items your shelter really needs, then you can add those items to the animal's list. If it's a "boring" item like latex gloves you can always put something cute/funny like "we need some gloves because I like to make nasty messes" or something. I didn't have high hopes when we started this but boy, was I wrong! All our animals were chosen in days and I had to put more up! People really got into it - especially KIDS! And people who couldn't adopt but wanted to help. And then we wrapped the items and took videos and photos of them "opening" their gifts from "Santa". We have them posted on our Instagram, but you will have to scroll for awhile!

Next year, I hope we have more time to participate in our county's Christmas tree  event and have a giving tree theme. There simply was not enough help this year for the tree.

I did start creating holiday pictures in October and a wish list that is rolling out this week. I have high hopes for it! Thank you for sharing about how to word boring stuff LOL

This year instead of Giving Tuesday we decided to run a "Holiday Giving" campaign.

Give the gift of healthy happy pets with Beesley Animal Foundation!!
Want to get an early start on your Holiday shopping? Need a gift for someone who has everything? Give a gift that keeps a dog or cat healthy! Give the gift of pet food to help pet owners with a bit of extra assistance for their cat or dog. When you choose a gift(s) to Beesley Animal Foundation, we will send an e-card to your recipient (honoree) and cc you as well when you complete these 3 easy steps.
    1. Choose your gift(s) on the Beesley Holiday Gift Form (link at the bottom). These gifts will benefit pet owners who need help the most and qualify for financial assistance when coming to the Beesley Animal Clinic.
    2. Fill out recipient info and choose either a Christmas or Chanukah e-card to be sent to your honoree.
    3. Make payment (link on the form) for your gifts and we will send a Merry Christmas or Happy Chanukah e-card to you and your honoree.
You can choose from several options like Canine Heartworm Tests, Vaccinations, Pet Food for Beesley's Outreach Program, Spay/Neuter Surgeries, etc. for your Beesley Holiday Gifts. Beesley's mission is to provide responsible pet care through community awareness and education and affordable health services for cats and dogs. The Human-Animal bond is a strong mutually beneficial relationship. We strive to help keep pets and their humans together, healthy, and happy. Your gift is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law, and that you did not receive any goods or services in exchange for your donation. Beesley Animal Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt [501(c)(3)] corporation. Our Federal Tax ID Number is 58-1399719. To learn more about all the services and programs of the Beesley Animal Foundation, please visit our website and be sure to follow on social media.

Every year our foster-based rescue Aiding 2 Adoption holds a December "12 Strays of Christmas" adoption/awareness event.  We have an actual "giving tree" this year with donations for sponsoring a dog or cat adoption fee, spay or neuter and also food and supplies.  I love your idea for families who are trying to keep their pets at home and will make a suggestion for next year to do an on-line version.  Thank you so much for sharing.

For Black Friday and Cyber Monday we did a simple wish list post. We posted the attached graphic with our most needed items along with our Chewy and Amazon wish list links. We also posted a reminder about using Amazon Smile. It was really well-received and resulted in a lot of needed donations. The most labor-intensive part was just making sure the Chewy & Amazon lists were up-to-date and ready to go.

Wanted to share a new resource I just started using it an app background.bg
There are several photo editing app available for free this one works for me it's how so many people make their social look more interesting by deleting the background in a photo and add a different place like the beach. I used it to change backgrounds of some of the rescue dogs looking for forever home to a holiday background. It is late in the season and short on time so the fastest way I found to create posts for the dogos trying to find a home for the holidays. Edited photos more to add bios or what each dog would like of Xmas off our wishlist as a way for more people to see the dog their personality and fall in love who says you can't find love online just have to search local rescue site or petfinder chewy available pets and find your match.

Thanks for sharing, Tyler!  I looked on your website for details about the Secret Santa program, but couldn't find any.  I did, however, see your incredibly adorable video of Meatloaf!  Can you share some details/advertisements for your secret Santa program?  We do a "giving tree", but would like to explore other opportunites.  Thanks!!

We kicked off our Winter fundraising campaign December 4th. It's called "No More Wasted Lives".  We advertise the campaign on our social media pages and in our monthly newsletter.

    https://www.facebook.com/LeeCountyHumaneSociety/videos/645027597405231

We are also doing sponsored stockings for all animals in the shelter and the stocking will go home with the pet when it is adopted.

We are also promoting adoptable animals with individual Christmas cards.

Love all your org's holiday promotions, Jill. Is there a different link for the sponsored stockings? The one you included in the post leads to the No More Wasted Lives campaign.

I also saw the Operation Silent Night promo to get all the pets in temporary foster homes from 12/24-12/26 on the Lee County Humane Society's FB page. Such a cute program name! Would love to hear how successful it is.

    Hi Nisa,

Thank you so much for sharing.  So am I to understand your tree is a virtual tree?  Could you  share more detail on your process?

IWe did some angel trees a few years ago, and we also had great success in donationsl.
Are you gathering money, or in kind donations?
We actually bought trees and put them in local businesses.
We printed and laminated our ornaments so they could take one off and make an
inkind donation they purchased at the business who featured  our tree.
Our ornaments featured items we made a wish list from, that again were items available in that particular store.

I would be very grateful if you could share how to also make this monetary?

Thanks again so much for sharing!  Great Idea!
