Has anyone done any type of fundraiser with pumpkins -- for Halloween or Fall Harvest?  If so, please elaborate.  Looking for ideas.

We are planning a fall festival and have teamed with a tattoo shop to do flash tattoos at the event. We are offering table space to businesses for free if they donate a basket for us to raffle off. We will have a food truck there and our merchandise to sell.

We are partnering with a local org to do a trunk or treat with a photo area. Pumpkins would be a super cure photo backdrop

We did an adoption special- we waived adoption fees for October if the potential adopter brought a pumpkin.  We had several donated- even without adoptions.  We then had the staff paint the pumpkins and we displayed them.  We chose to paint instead of carving because they last much longer than a month.  It was a cute adoption push and staff enjoyed painting and displaying their creations.  Most were dog/cat-themed.

Not really an answer to your question, but just for fun....  We reached out to a local church group that hosts a pumpkin patch every weekend in October.  After the last Sunday, they give us as many of the leftover pumpkins as we want.  We used some for decor around the shelter, and we allowed staff to SMASH them in one of our outdoor runs.  It's such a great stress relief.  And the best part is that pumpkin is very healthy for dogs and cats, so after we have our fun, they get a sweet treat!
