I, too, have set up 501c3 Non-profits for cats, dogs, horses, groomers, etc....You eventually memorized the sequence and its a piece of cake! I use my "know how" to assist others....You don't need Legal Zoom at all! What you can do is find the foundations to "reimburse your start up fees", like I did! ...

Adding felines to your mission is helpful, just make an addition to your mission statement and CYA by adding a new article in your "bylaws" stating so, that way it is CLEAR you are helping both! You can ADD to your mission statement about the feline support, you don't have to start all over again! I primarily do dogs as well, I have feral cats as they chose to live here, I just added them !
